You get up to Vercorin by the hairpin road from Chalais, or by cable car. The village sits on the slope, and so do its access ways, its ramps and its outside steps: that is where most of the upkeep happens, in winter as in summer. We come across from Sierre, through Chalais.
Village communal areas
Vercorin mixes old chalets with small residences of a few units. The communal areas are modest — a hall, a stairwell, a ski locker, a bin store — but they take in everything the slope and the snow bring inside. We do them at the agreed frequency, more often during the holidays.
Everything is on a slope
From November to March we clear the entrances, the steps and the parking spaces with a snow blower and shovels, then salt and grit; the call-out happens outside office hours. From April to October that same slope is mown and trimmed, and the pressure washer lifts the grit and the moss off the paving.
